A New Gardening Year

Updated: Sep 18

Congratulations to the Sherfield Allotment owners on their Open Day on 9th August. It was fantastic to see such an amazing array of fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers, despite weeks of no rain. Looking forward to their many entries at the Sherfield Show on 7th September!

Our GC calendar restarts on Monday 15th September when we’ll welcome back all existing members for the short AGM followed by our guest speaker.

We’re delighted to welcome Gillian Taylor back to Sherfield by popular demand. Known for her helpful and practical tips, she will speak about: “The Walled Garden”. Sherfield Village Hall. Doors open 7.15pm: talk starts 7.30pm followed by Q&A, refreshments and our gardening -themed raffle.

New members and guests are very welcome. Annual subs are due at this meeting: still only £10 per person for the year; then just £2 per meeting for members, £5 per meeting for non -members and guests.

Thanks to everyone who enjoyed our impromptu Summer Social in July. Prosecco & beer, strawberries & shortbread created a convivial evening to discuss new topics and ideas for future garden visits.

Our thanks to Ruth Johnston for her excellent presentation (at very short notice!) on “Drought - tolerant plants for our gardens”. David Green will speak on “Radiation in the Soil” at our February meeting. Happy gardening and we look forward to seeing you in September. On behalf of Sherfield & District Gardening Club.
